Definition
The amount of space inside a 3D object.
Explanation
Measured in cubic units such as cm cubed. Capacity is volume of a container, often given in litres.
Example
A cuboid 2 by 3 by 4 has volume 24 cubic units.
Common confusion
Volume is not surface area.
